Official UEFA EURO 2016 Virtual Tournament: Day 1 recap

PES League qualifiers Francisco 'Kopperspumas' Alvarado and Alejando ' 'AlexalGuacil8' Aguacil Segura  have both reached the Semi-Finals of the Official UEFA EURO 2016 Virtual Tournament which kicked off yesterday in Paris, France.

This means that both players are now just two wins away from winning the grand prize package which includes 2 VIP tickets for the UEFA EURO 2016 Final and the chance to celebrate their victory on the pitch beforehand. They'll also win a large flat screen TV provided by Hisense and a stay in Europe up to the value of 1000 EURO courtesy of Arbitel - both of which are partners of UEFA EURO 2016 and the Virtual EURO tournament.

Kopperspumas, who qualified for the event through winning the Official UEFA EURO 2016 Virtual Tournament Latam Final, drew England in the competition's live draw which was conducted with the help of Christian Karembeu and David Trezeguet on Tuesday night.

He began his campaign with a 3-1 win against Iceland, who were drawn by fellow South American and PES 2015 Brazilian Champion Felipe 'Felipeforatop' Forato Perreira. This booked him a quarter final place against Smain Ouadha's France team which he edged 1-0 in a tight affair live on the PES League Twitch channel.

His opponent in the semi-final will be Antoine 'Anonyyymouss' Choite whose Germany team defeated both Eldridge 'Oneilz' O'Neil's Slovakia and the Italy team of Official UEFA EURO 2016 Virtual Tournament Rest of World Final winner Milos 'ANDRA27_SRB' Andric.

AlexalGuacil8, who drew Croatia, faced a tough first match against 2010 French Champion Moises Fernandes and Portugal. He made light work of the task however ending the match with an impressive 6-3 victory. He also won his quarter final by a three goal margin, securing a clean sheet in the process with a 3-0 win over Kays Boukhezer's Poland team.

Alejandro will face the Belgium team of Hamadi Cherif in the semi-final after the Frenchman pulled off the shock of the tournament in beating 2015 and 2016 PES World Champion Rachid 'Usmakabyle' Tebane and his Wales team 4-3 in the Quarter Final. Prior to that he had secured a 5-2 victory over the Hungary team of Magicarpe.

The Official UEFA EURO 2016 Virtual Tournament will conclude today with all matches taking place  live on stage on the UEFA EURO 2016 Fanzone in St Denis. The action will be live to watch from 15:30 BST on both the PES League (French Commentary) and PES Vision (English Commentary) Twitch channels.
